Well, this is the first post of what should hopefully be a very interesting year.
I'll give you a little background. My name is Sol, I have just finished studying my NC in Renewable Energy Sytems, where I was a class rep. During the past year I have worked closely with my Students Association on various things. This has given me a passion for student rights, and as such I decided to run in the elections For a student officers role.
I was successful in winning the position I went for, and as such, my summer is now given over to learning my role, and learning new skills.
I may also add that I am in Scotland. This may seem irrelevant to most people, but the college sector in Scotland is currently going through a regionalisation process which the Scottish government has decided is needed to bring it into the 21st century.
This makes it even more exciting to be part of the student movement at this time, as I will be in a position to help shape the future of the association for the new regional structure through the coming year.
So far this week, I have had Mental Health First Aid training, and had a meeting with the management and regional coordinator about the regional process. And tomorrow I go to a national meeting about learning and teaching during the regionalisation process.
And all this before I have officially taken up office.
Good times.
I'm really looking forward to the coming year and the challenges ahead.
Sol
